ISUS organized an internship during a week entitled “Robótica e Second Life” (Robotics and Second Life) included in the program “Ocupação Científica no Verão” sponsored by “Ciência Viva” and held between 28th of June and 2nd of July 2010 at the ISUS Lab (307) in University Fernando Pessoa.
On this full-time event, the ISUS team interacted with an animated and interested group of students from several regions of Portugal. Students came from Anadia, Barcelos, Mirandela, Vila Nova de Gaia, Lisboa, Setúbal and Azeitão.
Despite the ambitious program, students and staff had the opportunity to deal with the details of creating 3D content in the Open Simulator Virtual World, to assemble some simple robots (cf. Farruscos) and to program their movements/behaviour and finally to link the virtual world with the physical world of robotics using scripting and wireless communication (cf. ZigBee).
